Y&R (as it's affectionately known by long-time fans), currently in its 46th season, was first broadcast in March 1973 and started its current winning streak the week ending Dec. 30, 1988.
Season-to-date, Y&R is averaging 4.42 million viewers, is the #2 overall Daytime program (behind CBS' The Price is Right) and is the top program overall among women 25-54 and women 18-49.
Thanks to Y&R and CBS' other Daytime perennials The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Talk, CBS has been #1 in Daytime for 32 consecutive years.
"The legacy of this show is remarkable," said Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, CBS Daytime Programs and Syndicated Programs Development. "No other modern-day entertainment program in ANY daypart has been the top-rated show for 30 consecutive years. This is an extraordinary feat that could not have been possible without the passion and commitment of the fans, cast, crew, and staff. Their support has helped to make CBS' daytime block the powerhouse that it is."
