James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, and Henry Zaga are the first cast members announced for The Stand, the upcoming CBS All Access limited-event series based on the post-apocalyptic world contained within one of Stephen King's most-celebrated novels.
Based on the bestselling book of the same name, The Stand is King's vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. Here, the fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of these survivors and the 108-year-old Mother Abagail, while their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.
In an exciting and surprising twist for fans of the original work, Stephen King himself will write the last chapter of the CBS All Access original series, which will provide a new coda for the story that can't be found in the book.
