Set in early 17th-century Japan, shipwrecked English navigator John Blackthorne finds intrigue and culture shock in a feudal society.

S1 E2

Lord Toronaga names Blackthorne 'Anjin-san'. Mariko teaches Anjin-san of the Japanese language and customs.

S1 E3

Toronaga continues to build his army for a battle with Ishido. Mariko's husband Buntaro, arrives in Anjiro.

S1 E4

Toronaga makes Blackthorne his aide and appoints him samurai.

S1 E5

Toronaga builds his army for a confrontation with his chief rival.

S1 E6

After defeating Lord Ishido, Toronaga becomes shogun. Mariko is killed in the final battle.
