What is School Spirits about?

School Spirits is about Maddie Nears (Peyton List), caught somewhere between life and death, and unable to leave Split River High School. Utilizing the help of an afterlife support group composed up of other spirits stuck in limbo, Maddie investigates her mysterious disappearance. Her living friends also assist in her quest to expose the truth. But the closer Maddie gets to discovering what happened to her, the more secrets and lies she uncovers.

Maddie’s fellow afterlife support group members at Split River High have long claimed that Janet (Jess Gabor), a fellow spirit, is the only one of their kind that’s managed to “cross over.” But as it turns out, Janet has possessed Maddie’s body, leaving Maddie’s spirit imprisoned in a purgatorial state.

Spoiler alert: The shocking Season 1 finale of School Spirits ends with the revelation that Janet – having taken control of Maddie’s body – has been spotted on camera by Maddie’s living friends, and is now headed out of town by bus. Can Maddie’s spirit convince her loved ones that the person walking around in her body isn’t, in fact, her? Will the real Maddie ever reunite with her corporeal form?
