Holidays are a time for family, food, and fun.
For the Shorts, it’s also a time for Mexican paraphernalia, live turkeys, and gassy widowers, as we learned in "Godparent Turkey Corn Farts."
Here are four particularly hilarious moments from the eighth episode of Life In Pieces:
1.) Matt ugly cries when Jen and Greg ask him to be Lark’s godparent.
New parents Jen and Greg struggled to decide on who should look after baby Lark should anything ever happen to them. After interviewing a few other contenders, the couple decided on Matt, who secured the title after allowing Sophia to practice her makeup application skills on his mug. The moment the couple revealed the news to Matt, he couldn’t help but be brought to tears, consequently ruining his freshly painted face.
2.) Tim has a hard time distinguishing the Thanksgiving necessities.
When Heather realizes her turkey is spoiled, she asks Tim to make a quick trip to the store to buy a replacement. However, when a holiday parade blocks his path to the grocery, he decided to hit up a nearby Mexican market instead. While there, he couldn't help but be seduced by non-essential items like Mexican dancing shoes, a piñata, a "tiny turkey" (aka a chicken), and, eventually a live bird. Who said Thanksgiving can't also be a fiesta? Ole!
3.) Samantha gets caught kissing her boyfriend by her grandfather—and a scarecrow.
Heather's tween daughter, Samantha, is so smitten with her new boyfriend, Aiden, that she tricks her grandfather into taking her to the Harvest Festival so she can meet up with her crush. All is well until John realizes something's up and enlists a scarecrow—albeit a man dressed like a scarecrow—to help find his boy-crazy granddaughter in a corn maze.
4.) A recently widowed neighbor has stomach troubles at Thanksgiving dinner.
As a nice gesture, Joan invites her recently widowed neighbor Gary (played by Martin Mull) over for the holidays, but Colleen’s powerful cauliflower dish sends him—and everyone else—running to the restroom. After an awkward meal, Gary threatens to put an end to Matt's illegal living situation; however, as he dramatically excuses himself from the table, he also lets out a sly toot, which inevitably means Matt's secret is safe for now.
