Once upon a time, USC and Michigan were programs that rarely saw each other on the football field outside of a sunny New Year's Day at the Rose Bowl. But that was then, and this is now: It's No. 11 USC (2-0) taking on No. 18 Michigan (2-1) on Saturday at Michigan Stadium, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This game is not skimping on storylines. One, it's a battle of AP-ranked opponents; two, it's the first regular-season meeting for the powerhouse schools since all the way back in 1958; and, three, owing to conference realignment, it's a historic Big Ten vs. Big Ten showdown. For the first time, USC will face a Big Ten team as an intraconference rival, rather than as a Pac-12 outsider.

USC is set to arrive at the Big House fresh from a bye week. In Week 2, head coach Lincoln Riley's Trojans shut out Utah State, 48-0, thanks, in part, to two rushing touchdowns from running back Quinten Joyner. The Wolverines, meanwhile, are coming off a rebound win in Week 3; Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore's squad downed Arkansas State at home, 28-18. Including Rose Bowl appearances, USC and Michigan previously have met 10 times. USC holds the edge in the series, 6-4.
