Virginia Madsen is one of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses working in television and film. She is perhaps best known to audiences for her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated performance as “Maya” in Alexander Payne’s film “Sideways.” Recently, Madsen starred in the film “Joy,” opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, directed by David O. Russell. In addition, she starred in “Dead Rising,” “Burn Your Maps,” “Burning Bodhi,” directed by Matthew McDuffie, and “A Change of Heart,” directed by Kenny Ortega. Her other film credits include the independent features “The Wilderness of James,” “Jake Squarred,” “Walter,” “The Magic of Belle Isle,” directed by Rob Reiner opposite Morgan Freeman, “The Hot Flashes,” “Crazy Kind of Love, ” “Father of Invention” and “Red Riding Earlier in her career, Madsen appeared in the films “The Haunting in Connecticut,” “Firewall,” opposite Harrison Ford, “A Prairie Home Companion,” and worked with ForestWhitaker in “The Ripple Effect.” Also, she starred opposite Jim Carey in “The Number 23” aswell as “The Astronaut Farmer” and “Diminished Capacity.” Madsen appeared in Francis FordCoppola’s “The Rainmaker” with Matt Damon, “Candyman,” “Hot Spot,” David Lynch’s“Dune,” “Almost Salinas” and “American Gun.” Her first lead role was in “Electric Dreams.”Madsen has had an extensive career in television, appearing on the series “Witches ofEast End” and the television movie “The Anna Nicole Smith Story.” In addition, she appeared asa guest in “Hell on Wheels,” “Hornet’s Nest” “Scoundrels,” “Monk” and “Long Gone.”Madsen divides her time between Los Angeles and Toronto.
