New year’s resolutions are notoriously hard to keep. But we’ve got one you’ll want to stick to: watching all the great new shows, live sports, and more coming to Paramount+ in 2025.
Ready to jot some key events in your streaming calendar? We've got suggestions – like, for example, the January premiere of the Paramount+ original movie Star Trek: Section 31, starring Academy Award® winner Michelle Yeoh, the arrival of new seasons of 1923, Yellowjackets, and School Spirits – and, oh, yeah, NFL fans, the all-important AFC Championship Game.
Read on for our complete rundown of the 10 things – New shows! Returning shows! Live sports! – we can't wait to watch and stream in 2025.
Get Started
1. Star Trek: Section 31 (Jan. 24)
What is it? In this original feature film, Academy Award® winner Michelle Yeoh reprises her fan-favorite Star Trek: Discovery role. When Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Yeoh) joins a secret division of Starfleet and is tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she finds that she must face the sins of her past.
Why we’re excited: Would we be as clichéd as to remark that this movie looks so cool that our phasers are set to stunned? Well, obviously, yes. But also! We’re blown away by the prospect of seeing all-around badass Yeoh back in the Federation fold.
How to watch: Star Trek: Section 31 is scheduled to premiere on Friday, Jan. 24, exclusively on Paramount+. For even more out-of-this-world action, explore our Star Trek collection for a look at all the Star Trek shows and movies streaming now on Paramount+.

2. The NFL Playoffs (various dates in January)
What are they? The NFL Playoffs are everything – a series of win-or-go-home showdowns that'll determine which AFC team and which NFC team earn berths in Super Bowl LIX. This January, the NFL on CBS will present four postseason games, starting with a pair of Wild Card battles, and concluding with the 2025 AFC Championship Game.
Why we’re excited: So. Many. Storylines. This is especially true in the AFC, where Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are out to make history by winning a third straight Super Bowl, and where Josh Allen and the Bills are out to make their own history – and come out on top in the conference.
How to watch: See below for all the info you need to watch and stream NFL on CBS postseason games.

3. Yellowjackets (Season 3 premiere) (Feb. 14)
What is it? You mean other than a phenomenon? The Emmy®-nominated Yellowjackets is a coming-of-age drama series that doubles as a psychological horror story. It follows a high-school girls soccer team that survives a plane crash in the middle of the Canadian forests. As it turns out, surviving the accident and months in the unforgiving wilderness is a picnic compared to surviving one another. Twenty-five years later, the team members who made it out of the woods alive struggle to keep their past secrets from creeping into the present.
Why we’re excited: We love it when something good gets even better. Come the new season, a cast that already boasts three big-time award nominees – the Emmy®-nominated Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Lauren Ambrose – will add two-time Academy Award® winner Hilary Swank. Joel McHale is also boarding the show. Hear that sound? That's us buzzing over all the star wattage.
How to watch: The new season premieres Friday, Feb. 14, with two episodes, on Paramount+ with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME® plan only. New episodes will drop weekly on Fridays.
FYI: All seasons of Yellowjackets stream on Paramount+: You can watch Season 1 with any plan; Season 2 and beyond require the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME® plan.

4. School Spirits (Season 2 premiere) (TBD)
What is it? This stunner of a series centers on Maddie Nears (Peyton List), who’s stuck in the afterlife with no idea how she ended up there. Season 1 finds Maddie determined to find answers to her own mysterious disappearance. She embarks on a crime-solving journey, but finds that the closer she comes to the truth, the more secrets and lies she uncovers. In Season 2, Maddie comes to understand what’s happened to put her into her purgatorial state, and realizes that she’ll need to unite her friends in the spectral world with her friends in the living world in order to reclaim her stolen life.
Why we’re excited: Because we're hooked, that’s why. School Spirits combines YA drama with mystery and supernatural elements. The result is a show that basically achieves optimum binge-watchability. Plus, the Season 1 cliffhanger simply sealed the deal; you can’t not see what happens next.
How to watch: School Spirits streams on Paramount+. Right now, you can binge-watch Season 1. Season 2 will debut in early 2025. A premiere date has not yet been announced.

5. Dexter®: Original Sin (Season 1 finale) (Feb. 14)
What is it? Set in 1991 Miami, this prequel series follows everyone’s favorite serial killer, Dexter (Patrick Gibson), as he transitions from student to avenging murderer. Realizing that he can no longer ignore his bloodthirsty urges, and desperate to channel his inner darkness. Dexter turns to his father, Harry (Christian Slater), for guidance. The burgeoning young killer learns to utilize a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society. Can he do this without getting on law enforcement’s radar – especially once he gets deep into his forensics internship at, yep, the Miami Metro Police Department?
Why we’re excited: We’re pumped to find out if the finale will give Dexter a taste of the bloodletting he’s long craved, and how close he’ll get to having his murderous urges detected by his colleagues in blue. Plus, we can’t wait to see the cast in action: In addition to Gibson and Slater, the series stars Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, with Patrick Dempsey, and special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar!

6. 1923 (Season 2 premiere) (Feb. 23)
What is it? A Yellowstone origin story from Yellowstone co-creator and Oscar® nominee Taylor Sheridan, 1923 follows Jacob Dutton (Academy Award® nominee Harrison Ford) and his wife Cara (Academy Award® winner Helen Mirren) as they face drought, pandemic, and the looming Great Depression in the Prohibition-era Mountain West. When a harsh winter sets in on their ranch, it brings new challenges and unfinished business to the couple. Will their nephew, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar), successfully make an overseas journey back to Montana in time to save his kin and reunite with his lost love Alex (Julia Schlaepfer)? Or will cruel weather conditions and adversaries end the Dutton legacy?
Why we’re excited: We’ve been looking forward to more 1920s-era Dutton drama since the show was renewed for a second season just months into its first season. We can't wait to revel in its sumptuous cinematography, stirring storytelling, and crackling chemistry across three generations of Dutton love stories.
How to watch: The new season of 1923 is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, Feb. 23, exclusively on Paramount+. Until then, you can stream Season 1, plus all episodes of its Yellowstone origin story predecessor, the acclaimed limited drama series 1883, on Paramount+.

In the end, only one can be dubbed Sole Survivor – and awarded the $1 million prize.
Why we’re excited: Let us count the ways … The hodgepodge of personalities. The extreme mental and physical challenges. Jeff Freakin’ Probst. This Emmy®-winning show is so addictive that we won’t be surprised if we’re still captivated by immunity idols and Tribal Councils in Season 148.

8. Watson (series premiere) (Jan. 26)
What is it? Why, it's elementary, isn't it? The CBS Original series Watson is a new, modern take on one of history's greatest detectives. In the medical-mystery drama, Morris Chestnut is our Dr. John Watson. The show takes place in the months after the death of Watson’s partner (that would be one Sherlock Holmes), when Watson has resumed his post as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Using his knack for seeing clues that others tend to miss, he solves mysterious medical cases.
Why we’re excited: We’ll never say no to a contemporary take on a classic character, nor will we turn down a mystery series with a medical twist. Oh, and the show has Morris Chestnut? That’s a big yes from us.
How to watch: Watson premieres following the NFL on CBS presentation of the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 26. Please note that the start time listed below for the Watson season premiere is approximate after post-game coverage.
